LAM Mozambique Signs Exclusive Four-Year Agreement with Chairman
LAM Mozambique Airlines has confirmed the signing of a new four-year exclusive contract with Chairman of the Board Dane Kondic, following negotiations prompted by his short-lived appointment at Air Botswana. The announcement was made during a press conference in Maputo as part of ongoing efforts to restructure the national carrier. The terms require Kondic to relinquish all external commitments, including those in Australia and Botswana, to focus solely on LAM.
Kondic, who took up the role in May, joins at a critical time as LAM undergoes major restructuring amid longstanding operational challenges, including a limited fleet and maintenance issues. The airline, now backed by three state-owned shareholders—HCB, CFM, and EMOSE—is aiming to stabilise its operations by acquiring up to five Boeing 737-700s and leasing additional aircraft. The company currently operates mainly domestic routes, flying around 915 passengers daily.
