Kenya’s New Conservation Fees for National Parks From October

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has implement revised conservation fees for national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries beginning 1 October 2025, following the approval of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Regulations 2025 by Parliament. The updated fee structure introduces varying rates based on visitor categories—including East African citizens, Kenyan residents, international tourists, and African citizens from other countries—with notable increases at key sites such as Amboseli, Nairobi, and Tsavo national parks.

This marks Kenya’s first comprehensive fee review in 18 years, aimed at reinforcing the financial sustainability of conservation while improving park infrastructure and visitor services. KWS confirmed that bookings made via eCitizen before the announcement will not be affected by the revised charges. The government stated that the new pricing will help support conservation efforts, expand tourism offerings, and strengthen the competitiveness of Kenya’s protected areas while maintaining affordability for both domestic and international travellers.
