Kenya Airways (KQ) has recommenced flights to Eldoret after a near decade-long absence, boosting capacity for tourists to reach the region's famous safari destinations. The national carrier will operate five weekly flights using its larger Embraer jets with business class seating.

The new Eldoret service intensifies competition with KQ's low-cost subsidiary Jambojet and rival Skyward Express on the route. However, it promises seamless connections for international travellers looking to experience Kenya's iconic wildlife reserves like Maasai Mara.

"There is sufficient traffic to justify resuming Eldoret flights, connecting more tourists to this safari hub," said KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka. The flights cut lengthy drive times from Nairobi to the game reserves around Eldoret.

With competitive pricing against the low-cost carriers, KQ's relaunch is expected to facilitate easier access to East Africa's unparalleled safari experiences for global visitors.
