Ida Jeng Njie appointed Director General of The Gambia Tourism Board

Ida Jeng Njie has been appointed Director General of The Gambia Tourism Board, following an official handover at the GTBoard head office on 7 January 2026. She succeeds Abubacarr S. Camara, with the transition signalling continuity and stable leadership for the country’s tourism strategy.

Previously Director of International Marketing, Njie brings more than 20 years’ experience in destination promotion, including an early posting to GTBoard’s London office. She has pledged to strengthen partnerships, enhance service delivery and sharpen global competitiveness as The Gambia consolidates recent gains, broadens source markets and advances sustainable tourism benefiting communities.
