Ghana tourism minister urges filmmakers to drive destination marketing
Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has urged Kumawood actors and filmmakers to showcase the country’s landscapes, culture and attractions to project a positive national image and stimulate travel. She delivered the message in Kumasi at the start of her Ashanti Regional tour, emphasising the influence of film on global perceptions and visitor interest.
In meetings with Kumawood representatives, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and stakeholders from hospitality, fashion and tourism, the minister said the Ashanti Region already enjoys strong visibility through film and pledged support to strengthen the creative industry. Stakeholders raised issues including taxation, exchange programmes and capacity building, which she said were being taken forward. The tour continues across the region, accompanied by Directors Dr Jeffrey Tamakloe and Divine Kwame Owusu Ansah.
