Ghana’s inaugural Afro‑Gastro closes in Accra – call for investment in culinary tourism
The maiden African Gastronomy Festival 2025 (Afro‑Gastro) closed on Saturday in Accra, where Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, urged the private sector, creative industries and development partners to invest in African food brands, culinary tourism and food‑innovation hubs. She framed cultural exchange and creative collaboration as drivers of diplomacy, investment and national pride.
Part of the Black Star Experience initiative, the event showcased the diversity of African cuisine and its role in development and job creation across agriculture, tourism, science and the creative arts. Embassies from countries including Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, Senegal, Nigeria, Colombia, Barbados, Zimbabwe, China and Jamaica took part. Gomashie reiterated plans to position Ghana as a leader in cultural and culinary tourism and called for continued collaboration, as the ceremony concluded with food showcases and cultural performances.
