We are thrilled to announce the launch of our next production in the series, highlighting Vuma Hills Tented Camp, one of only three private camps within Mikumi National Park.

Mikumi National Park is in southern Tanzania, and is surrounded by the Uluguru, Rubeho, and Udzungwa Mountains. Foxes Safari Camps has two of the three private camps within the park, Vuma Hills Tented Camp and Stanley’s Kopje.

Our new production showcases the diverse range of wildlife, the views of the Mkata Plains from the camp, and the kind and friendly nature of Tanzanian people who you meet when you visit one of our camps or lodges.

Mikumi National Park

At 3 230km2 Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth largest national park, and is home to large herds of grazers. Seasoned safari goers know that this makes it a prime location for predators on the prowl – when they are not lazing under the shade of an acacia, flicking away flies with their tails; or lifelessly dangling from horizontal branches to conserve as much energy as possible in the midday heat.

Not only does Mikumi National Park promise wildlife sightings, but the landscape gives our guests front-row seats to a spectacle of savannah plains that transform into Miombo woodland as they venture higher up the slopes of the Uluguru and Udzungwa mountains, accompanied by a diverse range of wildlife.

Age-old granite rock formations rise from the plains to form the Vuma Mountains, and it is here you will find Vuma Hills Tented Camp.

Vuma Hills Tented Camp

Vuma Hills is a permanent camp with 16 spacious tents standing atop wooden decks overlooking the plains below, beneath the shade of a makuti-thatched roof. Each of the en-suite tents is elegantly furnished and fitted with all the creature comforts that guests expect on our safaris. While the overhead thicket covers the camp in a cooler climate, the large swimming pool and palm-frond salas always await, especially after a sunrise game drive.

Dappled sunlight peers through the intertwined tree canopies allowing guests to watch the wildlife come and go as they please. Bushbaby call echoes through the night. It's a wildlife experience where visitors can witness the full spectrum of southern Tanzania's incredible biodiversity.
