Equatorial Guinea and the Grand Hotel Djibloho: A Premier MICE Destination Unveiled in Madrid

On Thursday, September 18, the International Association for Tourism Cooperation in Equatorial Guinea (ASICOTUR G.E.), represented by its delegate Ms. Catalina Martínez Asumu, together with the Commercial Director of the Grand Hotel Djibloho, Ms. Orfa Clementina Ntutumu Nguema, officially presented Equatorial Guinea and the Grand Hotel Djibloho in Madrid as a new MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.

This initiative, led by ASICOTUR G.E., reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to promoting the international image of Equatorial Guinea, reinforcing its status as an emerging player in business tourism and creating new opportunities for sectoral cooperation.

During the event, speakers highlighted the country’s strengths as a growing destination within the tourism industry, emphasizing its strategic location in the heart of Africa, political and social stability, rich cultural diversity, and significant investment in modern infrastructure. The presentation also underscored Equatorial Guinea’s dedication to economic diversification, with business tourism positioned as a key driver of national development and global visibility.

The Grand Hotel Djibloho was highlighted during the event as a key facility within Equatorial Guinea’s hospitality infrastructure. With more than 452 rooms and suites, modern conference facilities, and adaptable spaces for a range of events, the hotel is positioned to play a central role in the development of the country's MICE sector. Its location, surrounded by natural landscapes, adds to its appeal as a destination for business and institutional gatherings.

The event was attended by travel agency representatives, industry associations, and specialized professionals, including renowned international MICE expert Bárbara Agudo Friedmann. Distinguished guests from prestigious global brands such as Dior, Philips, and Michelin were also present, expressing strong interest in the opportunities Equatorial Guinea offers for hosting international conferences, incentive trips, and executive meetings.

As a symbolic gesture, two one-week trips to Equatorial Guinea were raffled among attendees, giving industry professionals the chance to experience the destination firsthand and enjoy the exceptional offerings of the Grand Hotel Djibloho.

The event concluded with a group photo of all participants, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and Equatorial Guinea’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the international tourism sector.
