Cabo Verde to host World Tourism Day 2027
UN Tourism has confirmed Cabo Verde as host of World Tourism Day 2027, following endorsement by the Regional Commission for Africa and approval at the 26th General Assembly in Riyadh. The 2027 celebration, set for 27 September, will run under the theme Transforming Tourism through Education – highlighting skills development, capacity building and knowledge sharing across the sector.
Hosting positions the Atlantic archipelago to showcase its cultural heritage and sustainable tourism initiatives while convening global leaders, policymakers and industry stakeholders. For context, El Salvador will host the 2026 edition under the theme Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism – underscoring the sector’s focus on technology now and education in 2027.
