African – The Fine Art of Travel: a new glossy magazine for the German-speaking market
Published right in time for the festive season, and biannually thereafter, the new German ‘African – The Fine Art of Travel’ magazine explores the multi-faceted African continent over 148 vivid pages.
Africa has been pulling the magazine’s publisher, Anja Hanke, into its embrace for many years. Whether time-travelling in the Fish River Canyon, listening to the roaring thunder of the Victoria Falls, feeling the rhythm of the dancing Maasai pulsing through her veins, or sipping a glass of Chenin Blanc while gazing at the Stellenbosch vineyards – Africa’s magic was love at first sight for the seasoned lifestyle and travel journalist.
The wish to share authentic stories of the continent’s impressive landscapes, its many multi-cultural countries, innovative properties and unforgettable encounters with its people and wildlife were the driving force behind the magazine’s inception. Says the publisher: “The magazine is for both those who already carry Africa in their heart, as well as those who are new to the continent and wish to dive in head first.”
A passionate team of experienced German and South African journalists and photographers, all Africa experts in their own right, bring the magazine’s pages to life. Not solely focused on Southern Africa, the title explores many of the continent’s thrilling countries, with a central theme anchoring each issue – starting with Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater. Other highlights of the first issue include stories on Kobus van der Merwe’s Wolfgat Restaurant, the thrills of going on safari in Zimbabwe, the launch of The Lionscape Coalition, a profile on Dame Jane Goodall, and an interview with Jill Heyes of T-Bag Designs.
The magazine is available now from https://www.african-mag.com/ and newspaper retailers throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland; as well as a selection of lodges, hotels and airlines on the African continent. Issue two, featuring a Mauritius special, will be published in May 2020.
