Accra to Host FESTAC Africa 2025, Merging Culture and Tourism for Economic Growth
Ghana is set to host FESTAC Africa 2025 in Accra from 21–27 September, a week-long cultural and pan-African event aimed at transforming artistic expression into strategic economic impact. Organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority in partnership with FESTAC Africa Foundation and public-private partners, the festival is expected to draw over 100,000 participants and will feature 500 performances, a cross-border carnival, trade-focused conferences, and wellness initiatives. The event bookends with Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day and World Tourism Day, underscoring the links between heritage and sustainable tourism.
Positioned as more than a celebration, FESTAC Africa offers a platform to drive regional cooperation and tourism development. The programme includes health campaigns, culinary showcases, a culture-meets-commerce marketplace, and forums on technology, climate action, and gender equity. With pan-African participation and support from the diaspora, the festival aims to stimulate cross-border tourism and intra-African trade, while providing visibility for SMEs and creatives. As Accra prepares to host the continent, FESTAC Africa 2025 is expected to serve as a catalyst for long-term partnerships, tourism flows, and cultural entrepreneurship.
