Jenman African Safaris Touring Africa Responsibly: Removal Of Orphanage Visit In Tanzania

A core part of Jenman African Safaris’ business beliefs is responsible tourism, and part of this is a mission to positively and beneficially engage with the local communities of the areas we travel to.  When it comes to the children of those communities we take extra care to ensure that they benefit sustainably from any interactions that are planned on our itineraries or happenstance. After careful discussion, research and debates, we have with immediate effect removed the visit of the orphanage on our East African Migration Discover and Tanzania Wildlife & Cultural Explorer tours. We are instead supporting the Kazuri Bead Project which is a group of over 300 single mothers who are making and hand-painting a range of exquisite original ceramic beads, designed to convey the colours of Africa. Kazuri means "small and beautiful" in Swahili and it's wonderful how something so small can make such a big difference in these women's lives.
