Zambia and UAE to sign tourism cooperation MoU
Zambia and the United Arab Emirates will formalise a tourism partnership later this year with a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed in Riyadh. The agreement follows a bilateral meeting in Dubai between Zambia’s tourism minister, Rodney Sikumba, and the UAE’s minister of economy and tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, held on the sidelines of the UAE–Africa Tourism and Investment Summit. The MoU aims to stimulate tourism development and two‑way investment, with a focus on sustainable growth and destination promotion.
Both sides highlighted plans for knowledge exchange, skills development and innovative financing for community‑based tourism enterprises, aligned with UN Tourism principles of transparency and accountability. The cooperation is intended to foster innovation, strengthen market links between southern Africa and the Gulf, and support community benefits through tourism‑led job creation and enterprise growth.
