VIA Green Initiative Expands Reforestation Efforts in Tanzania’ Mwanza Region

VIA Green Initiative has donated 100,000 trees to Kwimba District in Tanzania’s Mwanza Region as part of its commitment to reforestation and environmental sustainability. The project, which includes a mix of shade trees, fruit trees, and erosion-prevention species, aims to enhance climate resilience and biodiversity conservation. During the handover ceremony at Hungumalwa Secondary School, VIA Aviation CEO Susan Mashibe highlighted the role of reforestation in combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future for the region. Students at Hungumalwa Secondary also participated by planting 1,500 trees within the school grounds.
This initiative is part of VIA Green’s broader goal to plant one million trees across the Mwanza Region, following previous efforts at Mwanza Airport and in Magu District. The organisation’s reforestation drive aligns with Tanzania’s national environmental policies and global climate action objectives. With plans to extend tree-planting efforts across all districts in Mwanza and beyond, the initiative underscores the growing emphasis on sustainable practices to protect natural ecosystems and mitigate the effects of climate change.
