Uganda Hosts Inaugural Tourism Symposium in Copenhagen to Tap Nordic Market
Uganda held its first tourism symposium in Copenhagen, Denmark, bringing together travel trade professionals, tourism stakeholders, media representatives and strategic partners to strengthen the country's profile across the Nordic and Baltic regions. Organised by Uganda's Embassy in Denmark at the Scandic Spectrum Hotel under the theme "Building Sustainable Tourism Partnerships and Linkages," the event featured representatives from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tour operators and hotel owners, who presented Uganda's offering across wildlife safaris, cultural heritage, adventure tourism and sustainable travel experiences.
The symposium served as a platform for business-to-business engagements aimed at boosting arrivals from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania - markets characterised by strong outbound travel and growing demand for nature-based and socially responsible experiences. Uganda's Ambassador to the Nordic and Baltic region, Margaret Otteskov, highlighted the strategic importance of the region, while Daniel Irunga of the UTB reaffirmed Uganda's commitment to positioning the country as "a safe, competitive, and sustainable destination for Nordic travellers." Private sector participants included Crystal Safaris, Dory's Tours, Emburara Safaris, Sites Travel, Africa Addict and Safaris.
