TUI expands African footprint with seven new hotels
TUI Group is adding seven hotels across North, West and East Africa, lifting its continental portfolio to 106 hotels and more than 34,000 rooms in nine countries. Announced on 24 November, the expansion includes two luxury properties in Zanzibar due by early 2026 and comes as Africa welcomed 74 million international arrivals in 2024 – surpassing pre‑pandemic levels, according to UN Tourism.
Four hotels have joined the network in North Africa: TUI Magic Life Redsina Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt (521 rooms), JAZ Royal Palmariva (505), JAZ Palmariva Beach (339) and The Mora Sahara Tozeur in Tunisia (93 rooms plus villas). In West Africa, TUI Blue Tamala has opened in The Gambia with 140 rooms. In East Africa, the Jaz Amaluna (211 rooms) and Riu Palace Swahili (500 rooms) will open in Zanzibar by early 2026. Executive board member Peter Krueger said the openings broaden reach into emerging markets while maintaining TUI’s focus on high‑quality, authentic holiday experiences.
