Tanzania's tourism industry stakeholders are gathering for a policy reform summit focusing on blue and green economies in Dar es Salaam today and tomorrow. The event “Blue and green: Making the most of Tanzania's coast and hinterland ecosystems” brings together public and private sector representatives to shape sustainable tourism development.

Lathifa Sykes, Tourism Confederation of Tanzania CEO, announced that the summit, organised in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and Environment Now, will address key issues including regulatory reforms, tax policies and investment opportunities.

The event will feature discussions on environmental conservation, infrastructure development and professional standards for tourism guides. A new collaboration between the Field Guides Association of East Africa, the College of African Wildlife Management and the National College of Tourism aims to address the shortage of skilled guides.

The ministry plans to launch a new environmental, social and governance (ESG) course for tourism sector officials in partnership with the University of Dar es Salaam, setting new standards for sustainable tourism operations across Tanzania.

The summit aligns with Tanzania's Vision 2050 development goals and aims to position the country as a premier eco-tourism destination.
