Regional Air Expands Serengeti Flight Network

Since 1997, Regional Air has been the backbone of bush aviation in Northern Tanzania. Through every shift in the regional travel landscape, the airline has remained constant in its purpose: connecting travellers to Tanzania's most extraordinary wilderness destinations safely, reliably, and with the warmth that East Africa is known for.

Regional Air entered 2026 with full operational momentum and a growing network. 

Returning to the Serengeti - broader than ever

This year, Regional Air Services reinstated scheduled services to five Serengeti airstrips: Lobo, Grumeti, Sasakwa, Fort Ikoma, and Lamai, spanning the northern, western, and central corridors of one of the world's greatest wildlife ecosystems. 

Together with existing services to Seronera and Ndutu, Regional Air now offers one of the most comprehensive Serengeti access networks in Tanzanian aviation. For operators building northern circuit itineraries, the full ecosystem is once again within reach on a single airline.

Gateway to Mara

Regional Air also continues to operate scheduled services into Tarime where travellers connect onwards into the Maasai Mara, one of the world's most celebrated wildlife destinations and the northern continuation of the very Serengeti ecosystem that Regional Air has served since its founding. 

Tanzania recorded a 10.7 percent increase in tourist arrivals in 2025, with total visitors reaching 5.94 million compared to 5.36 million in 2024. Aviation access to the northern safari circuit, through which the majority of Tanzania's wildlife tourism flows, plays a direct role in sustaining that growth. The reinstatement of Serengeti services, spanning the northern, western, central and southern corridors of the ecosystem, alongside existing connections to Lake Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Tarime and Zanzibar, is expected to further support visitor distribution across the tourism circuit and contribute to continued growth in arrivals and length of stay.
