Ras Mubarak ends 31‑country tour – pushes visa‑free Africa by 2030

Pan‑African advocate and former Ghanaian legislator Ras Mubarak has brought the Trans Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign home to Accra, arriving at Black Star Square on 20 January 2026 after a road journey of more than 40,000 kilometres across 31 African countries to advocate a visa‑free continent by 2030. Speaking at a welcome ceremony on 22 January, he thanked the Government of Ghana – including the Office of the Chief of Staff and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – and said freer movement would accelerate intra‑African tourism, job creation and economic inclusion in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The campaign met senior leaders along the route, including Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, the King of Eswatini and parliamentary and government officials in countries such as Guinea and Zambia. Ghanaian officials described the initiative as timely as the country prepares for a larger continental role, with insights expected to inform policy; they also urged wider support for open borders, noting that restrictive and costly intra‑African travel continues to hinder integration and tourism growth.
