Southern Africa's air connectivity is expanding with new and resumed routes, making multidestination trips easier to plan. Two airlines have announced significant additions to their regional networks.

Proflight Zambia will launch Cape Town-Livingstone service on Dec. 1, offering direct access to Victoria Falls from South Africa's tourism hub. The twice-weekly flights (Thursdays and Sundays) will operate with additional Saturday service during the peak holiday season from December to early January.

"Our timing is specifically designed around the tourism experience," said Proflight Zambia director of flight operations Josias Walubita. "Passengers can leave Cape Town after breakfast and be at Victoria Falls in time for an afternoon sunset cruise."

Meanwhile, Air Tanzania is resuming its Dar es Salaam-Johannesburg service on Nov. 30 with five weekly flights; the service had been suspended back in 2019. Operating a Boeing 737-9 Max, the route will connect passengers to regional spots like Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro as well as international destinations in China, Dubai and India.

"We are delighted to resume this important route, which will strengthen the travel network between Tanzania and South Africa," said Patrick Ndekana, Air Tanzania's commercial director.
