Morocco Records 4.3 Million Tourist Arrivals in Q1 2026
Morocco welcomed 4.3 million tourists in the first quarter of 2026, a 7% increase on the same period in 2025, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy. March alone accounted for around 1.6 million visitors - an 18% year-on-year rise - with officials describing the month as reflecting an "exceptional dynamic" in the sector. Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor attributed the results to the country's 2023 - 2026 tourism roadmap, which targets expanded air connectivity, diversified source markets, and improved accommodation and entertainment infrastructure across Morocco's regions.
The figures build on a strong 2025, in which Morocco recorded 19.8 million tourist arrivals - a 14% increase on 2024 and ahead of initial projections. The country's tourism sector has maintained a consistent upward trajectory since recovering from the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, supported by sustained government investment and rising international travel demand. With the 2030 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Morocco's position as one of the region's fastest-growing destinations is expected to attract continued interest from investors and travellers alike.
