MORE Collection's 25-Year Safari Legacy Built on People and Conservation
South African luxury safari operator MORE Collection has built a portfolio of seven lodges, one boutique hotel, five exclusive-use villas, and four treehouses across four locations in South Africa, under the leadership of CEO Robert More. Founded in 2001 when More and his late brother Nick opened Lion Sands River Lodge on family land first acquired in 1933, the collection has grown to include Lion Sands Game Reserve, Marataba Game Lodges, Monwana Game Lodge, and the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel in Cape Town. The properties have attracted significant international recognition, with Lion Sands named No. 1 Safari Lodge in Africa and No. 4 Hotel in the World at the 2026 Travel & Leisure World's Best Awards, and Cape Cadogan taking No. 1 City Hotel in Africa in the same rankings.
More, who has led the business for 25 years, attributes much of its success to a philosophy rooted in human connection rather than expansion for its own sake. The collection's Impact Fund channels guest contributions towards health, education, resource sustainability, and local community development, while the MORE Field Guide College - established in 2014 in memory of Nick More - trains guides and wilderness professionals in partnership with FGASA. More has indicated that future growth will focus on deepening the company's conservation and community impact rather than scaling purely for commercial gain, with the long-term goal of building an operation that outlasts its current leadership.
