King Shaka International Airport expands flight network amid travel recovery
Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has unveiled significant updates to the flight network at King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), bolstering its position as a key hub for regional and international travel. These enhancements aim to accelerate passenger traffic recovery and support economic growth as travel demand surges for the upcoming peak season.
KSIA has introduced a new Durban–Gaborone route, operating three times a week, alongside expanded services on the Durban–Lusaka route with two weekly flights and a daily Durban–Harare service. These additions reinforce KSIA’s role in fostering travel and trade across Southern Africa.
The Durban–Dubai route, operating seven times weekly, remains a cornerstone for international connectivity, while collaborations with Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways continue to expand passenger capacity.
Domestically, KSIA maintains robust connections with Johannesburg and Cape Town. Adjustments to flight frequencies aim to optimise operations and improve the travel experience, ensuring seamless connectivity across South Africa.
Acsa emphasised its focus on expanding KSIA’s route network, particularly within Africa, and strengthening strategic partnerships with airlines and stakeholders.
