Kenya Bets on Bomas Project to Drive Tourism Growth

Kenya is banking on the expansion of the Bomas International Conference Centre (BICC) in Nairobi to strengthen its position as a leading meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) destination in Africa. During a site inspection, President William Ruto said the modernised facility will help attract more international conferences, boost business tourism and support the country's ambition of welcoming more than five million visitors annually. 

The government projects the upgraded complex will generate more than KSh1 trillion (approximately US$7.7 billion) in tourism revenue by 2028 while creating jobs and stimulating growth across the hospitality, aviation and transport sectors. Officials believe the investment will enhance Nairobi's competitiveness against other African conference hubs, provided supporting infrastructure such as reliable power and transport links keeps pace with demand.
