Kenya Airways Resumes Daily Nairobi - Dubai Flights After Two-Month Suspension
Kenya Airways (KQ) resumed scheduled daily flights between Nairobi and Dubai on Thursday 14 May, following a suspension of more than two months triggered by the outbreak of conflict involving Iran on 28 February. The airline had largely halted its Nairobi - Dubai service during the period, operating only limited special and repatriation flights, including flight KQ304 on 4 March to bring Kenyan nationals home. Prior to the suspension, KQ operated 14 flights per week on the route - equivalent to two daily return services.
The airline has confirmed it will initially operate one daily frequency, with plans to increase capacity progressively in line with demand and security conditions. KQ noted in a statement that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority and that it is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure safe operations. Dubai International Airport continues to experience some residual disruptions, with delays reported across the Gulf region this week due to a combination of post-conflict recovery and capacity pressures. KQ is among the first East African carriers to fully restore scheduled passenger services on the route as the regional situation begins to stabilise.
