Kenya Airways and CemAir Sign Interline Agreement to Boost African Connectivity

Kenya Airways (KQ) and South African regional carrier CemAir (5Z) have signed a strategic interline agreement designed to expand connectivity across the continent, with Johannesburg and Cape Town serving as the primary hubs. Under the agreement, Kenya Airways customers will gain access to CemAir's network across ten South African domestic destinations – including Bloemfontein, Hoedspruit and Kimberley – as well as four regional points such as Maun, Victoria Falls and Harare. In turn, CemAir customers will be able to connect seamlessly onto Kenya Airways flights to 15 African destinations, including Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa, Entebbe, Accra and Abidjan, with single-ticket itineraries and coordinated connections across both networks.

Kenya Airways currently operates three daily flights to Johannesburg and nine weekly flights to Cape Town from Nairobi, providing a strong foundation for the expanded network the partnership enables. Acting Group Managing Director and CEO Captain George Kamal described the agreement as a reflection of the airline's continued commitment to connecting Africa's people, cultures and markets. CemAir CEO Miles van der Molen noted that the deal upgrades a longstanding relationship into a strategic partnership, with both carriers citing the combined network strength as a platform for future growth and improved passenger experience across the continent.
