Ghana and Zambia agree visa-free travel to boost mobility
Ghana and Zambia have agreed to abolish visa requirements for each other’s citizens, confirmed by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa during President John Dramani Mahama’s three-day visit to Zambia. Mahama arrived in Lusaka on Wednesday 4 February and met President Hakainde Hichilema, with the accord removing entry permits to ease travel and strengthen bilateral ties, supporting tourism and trade.
Officials said the policy will facilitate business, encourage tourism and promote cultural and professional exchanges by simplifying travel for students, entrepreneurs and workers. The visa exemption forms part of a wider push to deepen cooperation and improve connectivity across the continent, positioning both countries to benefit from growing intra-African travel and associated visitor spend.
