Ghana and Morocco Move Towards Visa-Free Travel Agreement

Ghana and Morocco are progressing towards a visa-free travel agreement aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed that the proposal will be presented to both countries’ parliaments in the coming weeks. The initiative follows discussions with Morocco’s Ambassador to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, and is expected to facilitate business, tourism, and educational exchanges, boosting investment and trade between the two nations.
In addition to easing travel restrictions, Morocco has doubled its annual scholarship allocation for Ghanaian students from 90 to 180, reinforcing educational collaboration. These developments highlight the deepening partnership between the two countries, positioning tourism as a key sector for future growth. If ratified, the visa waiver will enhance cross-border tourism and cultural exchanges, further integrating Ghana and Morocco within Africa’s broader travel landscape.
