FHS Africa to Make Uganda Debut in February 2027

The Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa will be held in Uganda for the first time in February 2027, following a formal announcement at a press conference in Kampala involving the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), the Uganda Hotel Owners Association and the Uganda Investment Authority. The event, described as the continent's leading hospitality investment platform, is designed to connect global investors, developers and hotel operators with opportunities across Uganda's growing tourism sector. Uganda recorded more than 1.6 million international visitor arrivals in the most recent period, generating an estimated USD 1.6 - 1.7 billion in tourism earnings, with the government targeting growth two and a half times faster than any other sector under its ATM strategy.

The summit arrives at a significant moment for Uganda's hospitality industry, which faces an acknowledged undersupply of branded hotel accommodation across both urban and leisure destinations, including Kampala, Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Park. UTB CEO Juliana Kagwa emphasised that the goal extends beyond visitor numbers, stating the country is seeking foreign direct investment across the entire tourism value chain. Ahead of the event, FHS Africa and the Uganda Investment Authority plan to develop investment prospectuses and conduct roadshows to ensure delegates are positioned to conclude deals when the summit convenes. The announcement coincides with Uganda's preparations to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027, further raising the country's international profile.
