Etihad Airways Expands African Footprint with New Routes
Etihad Airways is significantly boosting its presence in Africa by doubling its destinations over the next year. The airline, currently serving Johannesburg, Cairo, Mahe, and Casablanca, will resume flights to Nairobi on December 15, and launch new routes to Tunis, Algiers, and Al Alamein in 2025.
By increasing its frequencies, Etihad aims to enhance its Africa footprint with 57 weekly flights across eight cities.
"We are committed to growing Africa flights and doubling our destinations over the next year," said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer. Additionally, Etihad's strategic codeshare and interline partnerships with airlines such as Airlink South Africa and EgyptAir further broaden its African connectivity. The expansion not only facilitates increased travel options but also strengthens the cultural and economic ties between the UAE and Africa, positioning Etihad as a key player in the continent's aviation market.
