Emirates Brings Autism-Friendly Travel Rehearsal to Madagascar

Emirates, the world's first Autism-Certified Airline, hosted its inaugural Travel Rehearsal session in Madagascar at Ivato International Airport (TNR) on 24 May. The programme, part of the airline's "Accessible Travel for All" approach, offers individuals with neurodivergent conditions a guided simulation of the full air travel journey — from check-in and security through to the departure gate and onboard experience — designed to reduce anxiety and build confidence ahead of an actual flight.

The session was organised in partnership with Zaz Heureux School, with ten children with autism and their families taken through each stage of the airport process, supported by Emirates and airport staff. Participants also toured an Emirates aircraft, with many reported to be relaxed and engaged throughout. Emirates' Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands, Oomar Ramtoola, noted the airline's commitment to championing accessible travel across its network, describing the initiative as a step towards "empowering more people to explore the world with ease and confidence."
