Durban to Host International Longevity Summit with Focus on Health Tourism Potential

Durban will host the 4th International Longevity Summit from 10–11 September 2025, positioning South Africa as a hub for wellness and medical tourism on the continent. Supported by South African Tourism and KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority, the event will take place at Sibaya Hotel and Casino and is expected to attract up to 300 global delegates spanning researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and investors. Under the theme “Future-Proofing Health: Africa’s Role in the Global Longevity Revolution”, the summit aims to explore health innovation, life expectancy, and Africa’s emerging role in longevity-focused solutions.

The programme includes sessions on preventative and regenerative medicine, longevity investment, wellness innovation, and medical tourism—areas with strong potential to elevate Africa’s positioning as a destination for health-conscious travellers. Tourism stakeholders are increasingly recognising opportunities in combining wellness, nature, and healthcare, tapping into a growing global demand for holistic travel experiences. Durban’s role as host further enhances its profile in the meetings and wellness tourism space, signalling strategic alignment between health sector progress and tourism growth.
