ATTA® to Appoint Group CEO Role

ATTA® (The African Travel & Tourism Association), together with ATTA Group Events Limited and its charitable arm, ATTA for Action, is inviting applications for the role of Group Chief Executive Officer (Part-Time).
We are seeking a senior, highly experienced executive who can honour the legacy of the previous Group Managing Director while providing strategic oversight, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable growth across the ATTA Group. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board and two accomplished CEOs, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and measurable impact across all organisations.
This role is ideally suited to a seasoned Chair, CEO, Non-Executive Director, or senior executive with a deep understanding of Africa’s travel, tourism, and events sectors, strong financial and governance expertise, and a collaborative, purpose-driven leadership approach. As ATTA® enters its next phase, the Group CEO will play a central role in guiding the organisation through this transition, ensuring continuity while championing innovation and collaboration to position Africa as a premier global destination.

This high-impact, part-time role (2–2.5 days per week) is ideal for a seasoned executive or chair with extensive boardroom experience, strong financial acumen, and deep sector knowledge. The successful candidate will guide two established CEOs, ensuring strategic alignment, sustainable growth, and global influence across all entities.

Work with the Board to define and deliver a long-term strategy positioning Africa as a leading global tourism destination

Identify and prioritise growth opportunities over the next five years across markets, partnerships, digital transformation, and experiential innovation

Ensure all organisations operate with shared purpose, complementary objectives, and measurable impact
Group Synergy & Alignment

Develop and implement a unified strategy across ATTA®, ATTA Group Events Ltd, and ATTA4ACTION

Ensure operations, communications, and activities reinforce one another to create a seamless ecosystem

Drive operational efficiency to maximise visibility, relevance, and sustainability
Financial Stewardship & Governance

Oversee financial strategy, capital development, and long-term sustainability

Ensure robust governance, transparency, and risk management through active Board engagement

Lead investment initiatives and cultivate strategic partnerships

Support the governance of ATTA4ACTION and ensure compliance with UK Charity Commission requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

Proven experience as a Chair, Non-Executive Director, CEO, or senior executive
-
Strong financial and governance expertise, with experience overseeing complex, multi-entity organisations

Deep understanding of Africa’s travel, tourism, and events sectors
-
High level of UK and South African compliance expertise and regulatory engagement
-
Experience with UK Charity Commission governance (desirable but not essential)

Visionary, collaborative, and purpose-driven leadership style

Experience in non-profit, membership, or association environments highly desirable

Availability of 2–2.5 days per week, with occasional travel to Africa

Commitment & Salary
