Africa Showcase Southern Europe targets growth in Portugal, France and Italy
Africa Showcase Southern Europe will run from 9–13 February 2026 across Portugal, France and Italy, aiming to tap culturally aligned, fast‑growing outbound markets. Organised by On Show Solutions, the roadshow spotlights demand drivers such as safari–and–beach combinations, expanding charter capacity and a rising luxury segment, with a new buyer‑focused format and Portugal included for the first time.
Market insights point to clear opportunities: in Portugal, historic ties to Africa and strong beach demand underpin bookings, with Zanzibar charters set to resume and over half of seats already sold ahead of summer; incentive travel to Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa is also growing. From France, long‑haul travel to Africa is up 7–10%, around a quarter of travellers now go long‑haul, and luxury demand is strengthening – with French‑language marketing seen as essential. Italy remains dependable, led by safari demand and large coastal charters, with Kenya nearing 100,000 arrivals a year. Industry voices caution that fewer African tourism boards are present in market, heightening the value of sustained trade engagement and training.
