Overview

Lauren is a freelance editorial travel specialist, with an interest in wildlife, conservation, adventure and sustainability. She is the former Editorial Director of the UK edition of National Geographic Kids, the world’s biggest magazine for children, and the former Editorial Director of DAD.info, Europe’s biggest website for fathers. Her first book, Lumberjack, was published in autumn 2021 in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.

As a freelance editorial consultant, travel writer and photographer, Lauren has worked on assignment across seven continents for a broad range of national publications and websites including National Geographic, National Geographic Traveller, Travel Africa, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, The Independent, Daily Mail, Metro, Wanderlust, JRNY, Spear's, Tempus, Aspire, Sunday Times Travel, Grazia, Woman & Home, Woman, Woman’s Weekly, Journeys, Adventure Travel, Kensington & Chelsea, Canary Wharf, Outdoor Adventure Guide, Vegetarian Living, New Zealand Herald, Destinations of the World, Flight Centre, Travelbag, Travel by Lightfoot, Selling Travel and Selling Canada magazines, along with online outlets including National Geographic, National Geographic Traveller, Love Exploring, Cosmopolitan, Hello!, Grazia, World Travel Guide andOMOTG.com.

She has also produced client content, including advertorials and sponsored supplements, for National Geographic, The Guardian, Wanderlust, Charitable Traveller, Spear’s, Flight Centre, Selling Travel and Selling Canada magazines, working on campaigns for South Africa Tourism, Visit Rwanda, Visit USA, Visit Florida, Arizona Tourism, Pure Michigan, Explore Canada, Tourism Australia, Tourism Northern Territory, Tourism Victoria, Mauritius Tourism Authority, Gemfields, Marriott, GAP and The Woodland Trust.

Lauren has travelled extensively in Africa, researching stories on destinations including Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe, working with some of the continent’s most respected tour operators and lodges including Ker & Downey, Desert & Delta, Great Plains, Norman Carr, Cox & Kings, Audley Travel, Heritage Hotels, Natural Selection, Gamewatchers Safaris, New African Territories, Saruni, Serena Hotels & Resorts, Zambezi Cruise & Safaris and Zanzibar Collection. She has also worked with a range of African conservation organisations throughout her career, including WWF, Helping Rhinos, The Sheldrick Trust, Save The Rhino, Tusk, National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, Great Plains Foundation and Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
