Ultimate Safaris are delighted to announce that the 2021, dates and itineraries for our two guaranteed departure safaris are now finalized.

The Namibian Tourism Board, together with Venture Media, produced this video to remind us all during these grim times that there is light.  A reminder that tourism needs you, that you should not cancel, just postpone and as the oldest desert in the world, Namibia is patiently waiting for you.

Yes, you’ve read that right! We are opening a new camp in Damaraland, which will be called CAMP DOROS.

Yes, you’ve read that right! We have now had time to align our post-Covid operations properly, and to take into account the experience gained since the opening of ONDULI RIDGE (link) in July 2021.

Our tribe at Ultimate Safaris is delighted with the response to our new CAMP SOSSUS and have now had time to settle into operations there to offer what is required for making CAMP SOSSUS even more family friendly.

Happy New Year! Unfortunately, the onset of much needed rain in Namibia has caused some damage at Tree Tops Camp at Onguma as one of the rooms was struck by lightning and effectively destroyed towards the end of last year.   Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the damage caused means that Onguma Tree Tops is currently one room short.

NAMIBIA IS OPEN TO ALL!  Ultimate Safaris is a great believer in making the safari arrangements for all their guests as efficient and hassle-free as possible, so we have applied the same logic to this requirement which might otherwise become a serious annoyance and detrimental to guests’ enjoyment of their time in Namibia. This requirement will not be in place indefinitely, but while it is, we want the process needed to comply with it to be as easy and user-friendly as possible.

This has been established in line with our commitment to help preserve wild places through impact investments that have a positive effect on the environment and its custodians, as already demonstrated in our growing portfolio of camps in Namibia.

After almost two years of planning and a year of building, we are delighted to introduce what will be Namibia’s premier villa experience, ONDULI ENCLAVE.

Ultimate Safaris are delighted to announce the opening of The Nest @ Sossus, the private Villa located on the private Namib Tsaris Conservancy near Sossusvlei. The Nest @ Sossus was designed using the unique structure of a Sociable Weaver nest as inspiration. It took eight years, including a three-year build, to bring this project to fruition and this has resulted in one of Namibia’s most extraordinary private villas in terms of both design and décor. The Nest was designed by Porky Hefer, created by Swen Bachran, and decorated by Maybe Corpaci.

Ultimate Safaris is delighted to introduce our Namibia Under Canvas Safari (scheduled departure) which will begin in 2019.

In partnership with the Lion Recovery Fund, Africa’s leading ecotourism operators, &Beyond, Conservation Travel Foundation by Ultimate Safaris, Singita and Wilderness Safaris, have joined forces to launch the Lionscape Coalition – an innovative initiative that has seen four commercial competitors come together to help secure a future for Africa’s lions and their landscapes. Africa’s lion population has halved in the past 25 years, and the species is now officially classified by the IUCN as ‘Vulnerable’, with the West African subspecies ‘Critically Endangered’.

2020 will be a year we all remember. However, we believe that challenges like these have effects on mind set and pre-conceptions that will redefine our industry.  At Ultimate Safaris we have therefore used this time for introspection and focus on what we think will be required when international travel resumes, in the knowledge that this will not be what it was before for most of the world.

We hope that all of you are enjoying the changing of the season, and the renewed enthusiasm for travel which is slowly starting to show again. We are encouraged by the early signs of this, with increasing arrivals in Namibia coming into our care.

Ultimate Safaris and the Conservation Travel Foundation have partnered with a Namibian owned outdoor retailer with a significant online presence and a staunch supporter of Namibian conservation efforts, and created an online portal where guests which are imminently travelling to Namibia with Ultimate Safaris, can purchase much needed field uniforms and gear on a cost recovery basis.

Since the re-opening of Namibia with more RELAXED REQUIREMENTS, we’ve seen the start of what appears to be a trickle of travellers returning! In recognition of this, we are ensuring that we continue to be as flexible and proactive when it comes to attracting travellers back to Namibia.
