Zambia urges 24-hour tourism on Zambezi as Livingstone cruise launches
Zambia has called for a 24-hour tourism economy in Livingstone following the 10 January launch of Radisson Blu Mosi-oa-Tunya Resort’s Sunday Sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi River. Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba said broadening river activities beyond traditional sunset cruises would unlock more revenue and improve asset utilisation.
Sikumba urged operators to offer full‑day experiences – brunch, lunch, sunset and dinner cruises – and said Government would issue licences and provide policy support while addressing staffing and operating‑hours constraints. He noted that later flights into Lusaka are a short‑term step to extend visitor time, with long‑term success reliant on closer collaboration between Government, boat operators and hospitality businesses to position Livingstone as a round‑the‑clock destination.
