Wilderness showcases Okavango culinary heritage in Gaborone
Wilderness Vumbura Plains presented its signature tswii pasta in Gaborone on 27 November, with head chef Gloria “MaGlo” Gaesemodimo demonstrating and serving the dish to guests. Made from the water lily tuber, tswii is a staple of the Okavango Delta and the showcase highlighted Botswana’s culinary heritage and the camp’s locally rooted approach to cuisine.
The event positions culinary storytelling as part of the high‑end safari experience in Botswana, reflecting growing traveller interest in authentic, place‑based food. “We carry our landscapes in our food,” Gaesemodimo said, noting the adaptation preserves tradition while introducing it to a wider audience.
