Nimali Africa has officially launched its live wildlife camera in partnership with Africam at Nimali Tarangire, opening one of the lodge's most distinctive wildlife experiences to viewers around the world. The launch coincides with improved access to Tarangire National Park through the newly opened Lemiyoni Gate, which is now in use by lodge guests.

The Africam camera officially launched to the public on Thursday, 15 October 2026, providing a continuous, real-time view of the waterhole at Nimali Tarangire, from the perspective of the lodge's Underground Hide.

A window into life at the waterhole

The waterhole has long been a focal point of wildlife activity at Nimali Tarangire, where guests enjoy close encounters from the Underground Hide, located just a few steps from the lodge's main guest area.

The Africam partnership now makes this experience accessible to a global audience, with live footage and natural audio capturing wildlife activity throughout the day and night.

Testing and observation began in September, ahead of the official launch, with the camera already capturing a remarkable variety of wildlife at the waterhole. Elephant herds, zebra, wildebeest and other plains game are regular visitors, while nighttime footage has recorded lions, leopards and hyenas.

Reached through an underground walkway, the hide allows guests to observe wildlife at eye level, remarkably close to the waterhole, while remaining discreetly concealed.

For travel partners, the live stream provides a new way to introduce clients to Nimali Tarangire before their safari, offering an authentic glimpse of the wildlife and setting they can look forward to experiencing in person.

New Lemiyoni Gate improves access to Tarangire National Park

Nimali Tarangire guests are also benefiting from the newly opened Lemiyoni Gate, which provides a considerably shorter route into Tarangire National Park.

The gate is approximately a 15-minute game drive from the lodge, compared with around 45 minutes to the previously used Boundary Hill Gate.

With Lemiyoni Gate now operational and in regular use, the shorter journey offers greater flexibility when planning game drives and reduces the time required to reach the national park entrance.

The two access points also create opportunities for loop game drives, with guests potentially entering through one gate and returning through the other, allowing them to explore different areas of Tarangire during their safari.

Standard national park gate hours and permit requirements continue to apply.

Connecting guests more closely with Tarangire

Together, the Africam launch and improved park access represent two complementary developments at Nimali Tarangire.

The live camera provides a new way for people around the world to observe the wildlife that regularly visits the lodge's waterhole, while the Lemiyoni Gate offers practical benefits for guests and travel partners planning time in Tarangire National Park.

Both developments support Nimali Africa's emphasis on immersive, personalised safari experiences and its philosophy, Safaris for the Senses.
