Webinar Recording - Combining Independent Lodges in Experience Rich Itineraries in Botswana and Zimbabwe
In this webinar, Alex Johnston, Director of Tortilis Marketing, explores how independent lodges and camps can be combined to create experience-rich safari itineraries across Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Rather than looking at each property in isolation, Alex takes the trade through a series of suggested journeys that bring together contrasting landscapes, accommodation styles and safari experiences. These include following the Zambezi from Victoria Falls to Mana Pools; combining Chobe, Savuti and the Okavango Delta; creating tented safari circuits through Botswana; contrasting the waterways of the Delta with the Central Kalahari; and incorporating private mobile safaris for families, small groups and specialist travellers.
The session also covers practical considerations including road and air connections, recommended lengths of stay, private concessions and national park access, seasonal experiences, self-drive possibilities and how itineraries can be adapted around individual client requirements.
Key itineraries and properties featured include:
Follow the Zambezi: 528 Victoria Falls, Dusty Road and Tafika Zambezi’s Mana Pools camps
Original Botswana: Muchenje Safari Lodge, Ghoha Hills and Setari Camp
Tented Botswana: Tlouwana Camp, Khwai Expeditions Camp and Kala Camp
Delta & Desert: Kala Treehouse and Evolve Back Gham Dhao
Mobile Safaris: Penduka Safaris, with private and bespoke options particularly suited to families, small groups and specialist interests
Alex also highlights how independent properties can be mixed with other partners, giving tour operators flexibility to build journeys according to their clients’ interests, budgets and preferred style of safari. Additional resources:
