UN Tourism Highlights Africa’s Investment Potential at South Africa Forum

UN Tourism and the South African government hosted the Tourism Investment Forum to spotlight investment opportunities across Africa, with a focus on South Africa’s growing tourism industry. The forum drew public and private sector leaders and showcased the country's credentials as a regional hub, with nearly 9 million international visitors and 47 million domestic trips recorded last year. Tourism contributed over 12% to South Africa’s GDP, reinforcing its strategic importance in Africa’s tourism landscape.

During the event, UN Tourism launched the Tourism Doing Business Guidelines – Investing in South Africa, a practical guide outlining investment incentives, key projects, and the country’s welcoming investment environment. The executive summary of the Investing in Africa guidebook was also unveiled, offering region-wide insights for investors. Additional announcements included future guide editions for Angola, Cabo Verde, and Kenya, as well as 100 scholarships for youth through UN Tourism’s Online Academy, supporting skills development and sustainable growth in African tourism.
