TUI Care Foundation Launches Global Initiative to Finance and Mentor Small Tourism Businesses
The TUI Care Foundation has launched the TUI Futureshapers Global programme, a new initiative offering low-interest impact loans, mentorship, and sector visibility to small tourism businesses in destinations worldwide. Implemented in partnership with the UnTours Foundation, the programme will support up to eleven tourism enterprises over the next two years, with loans structured for repayment and reinvestment into future initiatives - creating a revolving funding model. The initiative targets businesses that strengthen community benefits, create jobs, and advance sustainable tourism practices, with the programme expected to support the creation or maintenance of at least 100 jobs and a further 100 livelihoods across participating destinations.
The programme builds on a pilot phase launched in 2022, through which seven tourism businesses across Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean received flexible investment capital, collectively welcoming more than 25,000 travellers whilst integrating sustainability and community engagement into their operations. Participating enterprises also benefit from training in financial management, sustainability practices, and impact measurement. The broader TUI Futureshapers programme currently operates across 48 countries.
