Sweden commits Shs18b to Uganda tourism and dairy
Sweden has committed Shs18 billion ($5m) to Uganda’s tourism and dairy sectors under the Trade for Jobs Uganda project, unveiled on 27 November 2025 in Kampala. The five‑year initiative aims to support value addition and private‑sector growth, strengthening regional and global trade in dairy and tourism services.
The project will be jointly implemented by the International Labour Organisation and the International Trade Centre, beginning with an 18‑month inception phase funded by Sweden. It targets decent job creation and improved competitiveness and market access – including collaboration with Swedish companies – with tourism support focused on skills, marketing and destination infrastructure, while dairy interventions come as per‑capita milk consumption has risen to 64 litres yet remains below the WHO’s 200‑litre benchmark.
