South Africa’s tourist accommodation revenue rises 8.9% in February
Revenue from South Africa’s tourist accommodation sector increased by 8.9% year-on-year in February 2026, building on a 2.7% rise recorded in January. The figures highlight continued momentum in the country’s hospitality sector, following a strong 2025 performance where total accommodation income grew by nearly 10% to reach over R41 billion.
Hotels remain the dominant segment, accounting for close to 60% of total accommodation income, according to the latest data. The figures, however, exclude additional revenue streams such as food and beverage services and short-term rental platforms, suggesting the overall contribution of the sector is even broader. The results reinforce the ongoing recovery and resilience of South Africa’s tourism and hospitality industry.
