Seychelles Enhances Hotel Grading Standards with New Assessor Training
The Seychelles Tourism Department, in partnership with UN Tourism, has concluded a week-long Hotel Classification Assessor Training to strengthen national quality assurance in accommodation services. Held from 1–6 September 2025 at the Savoy Resort & Spa, the training aimed to expand the pool of qualified assessors supporting the National Hotel Grading Programme, which launched in January 2024 and has already assessed 52 establishments.
The programme involved 22 participants, including tourism department staff and independent assessors, and featured both classroom learning and practical field assessments. Topics ranged from sustainability and accessibility to guest service and online reputation. The initiative supports Seychelles’ broader goal to align hotel standards with international benchmarks while ensuring consistent, credible, and locally rooted assessments—key to maintaining destination competitiveness in the global tourism market.
