OurAfrica.Travel Diaries Go Live Tuesday 23 January

The fifth edition of popular digital travel trade show OurAfrica.Travel will be live from Tuesday 23 January at 3pm (CAT) for networking and scheduling meetings ahead of the show which will run from Monday 5th February to Friday 9th February 2024.

The easy-to-use platform with built in diary, news feed and chat function, offers seamless appointment scheduling, giving every participant complete control over their availability and who they hold their 20-minute meetings with.

Kicking off the tourism event calendar in style ahead of the various face-to-face trade shows around the globe, OurAfrica.Travel is an opportunity to connect early and plan for the year ahead, and to complement, support and endorse all the face-to-face shows, including Indaba, We Are Africa, Experience Africa and Africa’s Eden!

The show was born during lockdown to support the industry through the toughest of times … and remains ALL about collaboration with partners including Wetu, The Africa Hub, ATTA®, NightsBridge, Africa’s Eden and Umlingo PR. This year, key sponsors include Destination Africa, We Are Africa, Bahia Mar and Tour Plan.

The show was designed to be both affordable and accessible to all – and offers an invaluable opportunity for travel agents and tour operator around the world to connect with hotels, lodges, resorts and other suppliers based in Africa and her Indian Ocean islands.

DESTINATION TRAINING

A Destination Training Week, hosted by The Africa Hub will run from 29th January to 2nd February, ensuring agents can prepare and brush up their knowledge and itinerary building skills ahead of the show. Anyone interested can register here for the daily 1-hour sessions at 2pm (UK), covering up to six countries per day.

THE SHOW IN NUMBERS

Over 207 exhibitors are confirmed including Great Plains Conservation, Rovos Rail, Zambian Ground Handlers, New Frontiers Tours, Ker & Downey Botswana, Jamala Madikwe, Asilia Africa, Hemingways Collection, Cottar’s, Robin Pope, Asisten Travel, African Monarch Lodges, The Last Word, Onguma Nature Reserve, Chiwani Safari Camps and Inspirational Places to name but a few. At the most recent count, over 432 buyers and 21 media have registered - and counting, as registration (complimentary) is open right up until 31st January.

In 2023, the show attracted 186 exhibitors and over 440 buyers and media worldwide. The platform facilitated over 6 500 meetings, 44 192 networking chats, and received over 85 000 profile views.

POSITIVE IMPACT

In addition to being carbon neutral, the show is also focussed on making a positive impact on both conservation and community, with some of the proceeds donated to two nominated charities each year. An incredible 28 charitable causes have already been nominated for 2024.

Past recipients of donations include Uthando SA which runs numerous projects in the townships around Cape Town, Tuk South For Rangers which supports APU rangers across Africa, the Mukambi Community School in Zambia’s Kafue National Park, How Many Elephants in support of World Female Ranger Week and Foxes’ Community and Wildlife Conservation Trust in Tanzania which offers shelter, sustenance, education and medical care for vulnerable children and their families.

PRIZES FOR AFRICA

The most engaged agents, tour operators and media will again stand the chance of winning some incredible accommodation prizes, which have been combined together to create some wonderful, educational familiarisation trips for the year ahead.
