A new documentary titled Namibia’s Wildlife Economy spotlights the country’s globally acclaimed conservation model, which has helped restore wildlife populations to historic levels. Produced by MaMoKoBo Video & Research for the Namibian Chamber of Environment (NCE), the film explores Namibia’s rights-based approach to wildlife management, which grants communities and landowners the authority to use and benefit from wildlife—a strategy that has contributed to the recovery of species such as black rhinos and savannah elephants.

Directed by Andy Botelle, the documentary includes expert insights from scientists, government officials, and community leaders, and addresses complex topics, including Namibia’s regulated trophy hunting model. While highlighting the success of community-led conservation as a cornerstone of sustainable tourism development, the film raises concerns over international trade restrictions and foreign opposition to resource use, warning that such challenges could undermine Namibia’s progress. The full documentary, mini-documentary, and interview segments are available via the Namibian Chamber of Environment’s official Vimeo showcase.
