Namibia Tourism Board Trains Noordoewer Border Officials to Improve Visitor Experience
The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), in partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, hosted a two-day customer care training programme for frontline officers at the Noordoewer border post from 15 to 16 September 2026. The training brought together 36 officers from the police, immigration department, Namibia Revenue Agency and Veterinary Services, focusing on customer care skills, effective communication and inter-agency cooperation.
NTB spokesperson Flora Quest noted that border officials are the first and last point of contact for travellers entering and leaving Namibia, making their conduct and service quality critical to the overall visitor experience. Noordoewer, situated on the border with South Africa, is one of the country's key entry points, and the initiative reflects a broader effort by the tourism board to ensure that positive impressions begin at the border rather than solely at the destination.
