Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is working with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to assess Nkasa Rupara National Park for inclusion on the Green List of protected and conserved areas. The listing serves as an international benchmark for effective conservation management, aiming to enhance environmental performance and sustainability. A validation visit by expert assessors is scheduled for 24–25 March, and stakeholders are invited to contribute feedback on the park’s management and conservation efforts.

Located in the Zambezi region, Nkasa Rupara is Namibia’s largest wetland conservation area, supporting diverse wildlife including elephants, hippos, lions, and over 430 bird species. The park plays a crucial role as a wildlife corridor linking Botswana, Angola, and Zambia. Its potential Green List status could further bolster conservation initiatives and sustainable tourism in the region. Stakeholders may submit input via email until 10 April.
