Malawi creates Instagram spots at tourist landmarks

Malawi has launched the “Warm Heart in a Frame” campaign, sponsored by Old Mutual, to promote tourism by encouraging visitors to capture photos at key locations across the country. Chief Finance Officer Vera Zulu explained that the campaign aims to creatively support Malawi's tourism sector, which is a vital part of the country’s Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.
The green photo frames are strategically placed in picturesque spots, including Cape Maclear, Mangochi, Mulanje, Nkhatabay, and Lilongwe. Each location was chosen for its unique representation of Malawi's natural and cultural heritage, inviting tourists to take photos and share their experiences.
Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule commended Old Mutual for complementing the government’s “Tiziyamba Ndife Malawi” initiative, which promotes local tourism destinations globally. She emphasised that marketing Malawi as a travel destination is a shared responsibility among all stakeholders.
Kamtukule expressed hope that other companies will adopt similar initiatives, placing photo frames at various attractions to further boost tourism efforts in Malawi.
